What is at stake this November 2016?

If you decide not to read this article, it's o.k., it's your prerogative and it's respected.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we must learn to understand politics within the structure of policies, laws and executive power, as intended by our founders, but also through the lens of Biblical principles and a spiritual world view that is founded on the Scripture, not on “perceptions.” To say that a certain political candidate “can save the nation” is a blatant blasphemy, because only God can save people and nations. But on the other hand a presidential candidate, because of the power bestowed on him or her, can have an impact on every single aspect of our lives whether they come to eat in our table or not. EVERY ASPECT!

Let us consider some statements by one of the members of the Duck Dynasty, Phil Robertson said: “Remember, everything I do is vetted through the Bible,” the devout Christian impressed. “When God says 'don't murder,' I'm taking it for what He said. Therefore, don't kill your children in their womb. It's murder, so, don't murder. After addressing the Christian stance on abortion, Robertson touched on marriage. "Get married to someone of the opposite sex,” he advised. “Keep your sex right there. You'll never get a sexually transmitted disease. I would vote for someone who believes that. And the list goes on and on and on." And those are only a couple of examples. It is not as simple as saying that “we can change the world,” or Washington, or our towns, cities, communities, etc. Because in a democratic society like ours, WE THE PEOPLE decide who governs the affairs of the people. It is true that God is the one that put and remove "kings." But in our elected official type of government, WE THE PEOPLE elects our leaders, therefore it is our RESPONSIBILITY to learn the process, and not simply vote for "likes" or "personalities." And when we elect candidates that distort, change, trample, destroy and overturn our basic God given freedoms and liberties and trash our Constitution, the work of influencing and changing our communities is harder and harder, to the point that the only way to change at least some, is to do the ultimate sacrifice; giving our lives for the Gospel of Christ. Now, that doesn’t guarantee changing the hearts of people, and history has demonstrated that thousands and millions can die, without necessarily producing changes in the status quo. Just study the case of Venezuela, Cuba and others. Did the death of thousands of Christians during the early days of Christianity change the hearts of the Caesars and the Roman Senate or the Romans citizens? Did the death of millions and millions of Jewish and Christians changed the hearts of Hitler, his cronies and the Nazi party? The answer is NO! Only the judgment of God upon the Roman empire brought forth the fall of the empire because of their abuse of power, corruption and crimes. Only the judgment of God and because of the intervention of the United States of America and their allies, the Nazis and the Japanese suffered destruction.

But this constitutional experiment called “The United States of America” having lost a sense of spiritual direction from God, through the Scripture and through its Constitution and laws, is at the brink of suffering a faster fall and destruction not at the hands of foreign enemies, but at the hand of enemies within our own nation… within our own leadership. When we as Christians lack the spiritual discernment to vote biblically correct, instead of politically correct, and when we lack the spiritual power to stand for what is right and against what is wrong, then we deserve the type of leadership that we elect. Phil Robertson also talked about the aspect of secularism: “Robertson then suggested that the term “secularism” is merely a euphemism for something much darker that is designed to win the spiritual warfare going on in America for Satan. "You call it secularism — I just call it 'the evil one,'” the outspoken actor reasoned. “The evil one that controls human beings (that are without Christ) … “That's what I call it. So when you see a lot of murder and you see a lot of lies, you say, ‘According to Jesus, the Son of God, He said you can attribute that to the devil's work." Therefore, as followers of Jesus Christ, it will be wrong to support such a candidate: that kills babies or approve the killing of them, that approve same-sex-marriage, and that wants to turn our society to a secular society, by eliminating our freedoms and liberties. In the last 50 years, and especially in the las eight to ten years, we have seen not only moral erosion, liberties taken away from individuals as wells as businesses, the approval of gay marriage by POTUS and SCOTUS, the approval of a health care law that impose not only regulations down the throat of Christian organizations and businesses, and regulation after regulation that strangulates not only the lives of many socially, but also financially, and all of that affects the spiritual affairs of EVERY average family in America. And all of that and more, happened because of the type of leaders that WE THE PEOPLE appointed in Washington. Nearly 2,848 laws were approved by Congress and the President in the last 8 years, and numerous executive order, and EACH OF THEM changed our ways of life. If we do not understand the process, then we are very naïve. Especially since we as Christians are of the type of thinking, that Christians should not be elected to public office and that we as Christians should not get involved in the policies process. It is that kind of logic and understanding, it has been the inaction of Christians and our inability to understand how we can impact our society, it has been because of that and other reasons, that the Bible and prayer have been removed from the public arena. It is because of that philosophy that close to 65,000,000 babies have been aborted since the landmark approval of Roe vs. Wade, and those are only a few example of our lack of influence over the policies and laws in the nation. I can’t tell you for whom to vote, that is up to you and your consciousness and your God, whoever you think your “god” is. Our Biblical God, the God who makes the heavens and the earth, will respect the decision of the people of the United States, but he will also judge each and every politician and leader that abuse the power, not only given by the people, but ultimately given by HIM. And he will also judge each and every one of us for not praying enough, talking enough and acting enough to influence and change others.

The call is upon us “13 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:13-14)
